PLEASE NOTE – the varieties listed below are either well established (over 60 years old), are 3 – 4 years old and almost ready to produce, or are newly planted varieties. Therefore, full harvest of all listed varieties may not be available.
Heritage McIntosh, Canadian Red Melba, Yellow Transparent, Spartan, Duchess of Oldenburg, Baxter, Sandow and Canadian Red Atlas are all well established and available during harvest. Limited amounts of our other listed varieties are expected in 2023 and 2024 (hopefully!).
Apple Varieties & Descriptions
Trust Apple – very disease resistant and hardy to cold and extreme weather.
Sweet Sixteen – delicious and unique tasting apple with hints of strawberry and vanilla flavours.
Connel Red – a fantastic apple out of Quebec. Disease resistant, deep red skin and fresh, sweet/tart flavour.
The Canadian Red Melba – another fantastic heritage apple. Ripens late August and has a bright, refreshing flavour.
Honey Crisp – although seemingly new on the market, the Honey Crisp dates back to the 1940’s. It’s fresh, slightly sweet/tart flavour and crispy texture has made it North America’s best selling apple!
Wolf River – the world’s largest apple! A very old variety out of Russia. Make one pie out of one apple. Best for baking and cooking.
The Goodland apple is a delightful light green apple with a blush of pink.
The famous Canadian MacIntosh! Our Heritage Mac’s are unbelievably delicious! The MacIntosh ancestry comes out of Dundas, Ontario in the mid 1800’s. Ripens mid September.
The Newtown Pippin apple is an early ripening green, slightly russetted apple. Like most greens, they are excellent for baking and cooking!
Liberty Apple! A star for flavour, deep red colour and resistance to disease.
Rhode Island Greening – this apples dates back to the 1600’s. Although not the prettiest to look at, it is superb for baking, cooking and sauces.
The Red Atlas – a 100% Canadian apple from the late 1800’s. Early variety with a tender skin making it easy for anyone to bite into! Red Atlas apples are now rare, with very few trees still producing in Canada.
Yellow Transparent – a rare heritage apple. Amazing early variety that ripens in August! Superior flavour for pies, sauce and baking.
Spartan – a stunning, late season apple. So red it is almost purple with an unforgettable flavour. Its’ applesauce has a beautiful colour.
